In 1967, 70% of U.S. citizens were against interracial couples being allowed to be married. This ‘proves’ interracial marriage must be wrong. In the same way, in 2012, North Carolina voted overwhelmingly to change the states Constitution to outlaw same sex marriage. This ‘proves’ that same sex marriage must be wrong. My hope is that we’ll look back in 50 years and see how ignorant we were in 2012, just as we now look back and embarrassingly admit to how ignorant we were in 1967.
